Don't carry the burden of sodden misery that they offer you day after day. For all the talk of progress, and growth, of shining paths, and golden roads, only pettiness and selfishness are in sight (I-Me-Mine?). Should you offer up your best, and be punished for it? Do you have to tread on thin ice, to bridge gaps for others to use, only to see it crack? And when you scramble back, relying on your own means, does anybody tends you a hand?
If it is for Glory and Recognition that you go out on a limb, don't bother. No reward awaits at the end of your struggle, nor will your effort be recognized. Remember, Heros are the ones that died, or the ones who stayed safely behind, and then emerged to claim the Honors. Chicken-shit.
And forget about gratitude. Those whom have benefited most from your effort, will hold the deepest grudge against you. They will turn their backs on you, and yet call you a friend. However, they will deny that you ever did anything for them. Judas is not a myth, and some people do betray with a kiss.
